Clip-on sun visor have a single layer of fabric over foam, plastic or cardboard. They all can be spot cleaned. Foam and plastic visors can be washed. If spot cleaning is not sufficient, soak the visor in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Use a sponge or cloth to clean sweat or makeup stains from the inner band. Rinse well. You must dry the visor quickly to prevent watermarks around the band. Shake, then use a towel to remove as much water as possible. Use a hairdryer, or shoe rack in your dyer with low heat. Do not tumble dry to prevent band to bend or break. Flat dry in a ventilated area.
Curly coil fabric sun visor can be machine washed in cold water and tumble dried on low heat. Remove coil before washing it; if entanged with other items the coil will stretch. If necessary wash coil by hand. Fast drying is important to prevent rivet from staining the fabric and watermark around the band where the fabric in thicker.
Foam sun visors can be washed with mild detergent by hand or in washing machine, except the sequin fabric-foam visors. Remove the coil and hand wash if necessary. Line dry or tumble dry on low heat.
Swimsuit fabric foam sun visors can be machine washed and dryed on low temperature. Make sure the adjustment cord is tied, so you won't lose it in the machine. Handwash and line dry is also a good option.
To remove stains use a soft cloth.
Do not wash raffia, laichow, palm, or paperbraid visors. Use a moist cloth to remove stains. To clean the sweatband, use a mild detergent with a small amount of water with a cloth of soft toothbrush.
Quick drying is important to prevent the straw to soak through.
Cotton and synthetic sun visors can be washed in a washing machine without an agitator. Close the hook and loop strap, so it won't stick to other clothes. Use cold water, gentle cycle with mild detergent. Do not use Woolite or any fabric softener.
Drying depends on the material. Cotton sun visors will shrink when exposed to heat in the dryer. You can tumble dry with no heat, dry with hairdryer and fan. Quick drying is important to prevent watermarks, especially with cushioned band visor hats. Polyester ribbon sun visors, dry faster than cotton visors, but many have a plastic wire in the brim. Line of flat drying is best.
Use cold water when handwashing cotton sun visors. Polyester visor can be washed in warm water. Do not wring.
