Packable and crushable hats are the ultimate travel essential: they pack easily and—most importantly—regain their shape when unpacked.
The best way to pack a hat depends on its material and crown style. Choose the packing method that works best for your style, and with a few simple techniques, you can keep your hat looking great trip after trip.
Not every packable hat packs the same way. We've organized our travel hats into four easy-to-shop collections based on the recommended packing method.
Pack Flat Hats
Designed to lay flat between layers of clothing inside your suitcase, making efficient use of luggage space while protecting the hat's shape.
Stuff the Crown Hats
The crown is gently filled with soft clothing such as socks or T-shirts to support its shape while the brim rests naturally on top of your packed items.
Soft Taco Fold Hats
Flexible brims fold gently upward against the crown ("Soft Taco Fold") before being placed into your suitcase, allowing compact packing without damaging the hat.
Roll-Up Hats
Designed to fold in half and roll into a loose cone shape for compact packing. Once unpacked, these hats return to their original form with minimal adjustment.
For extra protection in a suitcase, place a T-shirt or other soft clothing inside the crown when using the Soft Taco Fold packing method. If the hat has a chin strap, you can use it to help secure the hat in place during travel. For roll-up styles, use a scrunchie to gently hold the hat in its rolled shape and prevent it from unrolling in your luggage.
