Paper braid hats make a cost effective, durable substitute for natural straw hats. The paper fibers are processed from hemp or rice and often blended with cotton or polyester to gain additional qualities. The tighter braiding provides better sun protection. Cotton and polyester blends attribute to packable, crushable features. Toyo and Shantung often used to mimic Toquilla palm (Panama) look.
