View full detailsPackable and crushable hats are the ultimate travel essential: they pack easily and—most importantly—regain their shape when unpacked. The best way to pack a hat depends on its material and crown style, and with a few simple techniques, you can keep your hat looking great trip after trip.
Soft fabric hats + packable mesh crown hats: These styles pack flat. Lay the hat flat near the top of your suitcase, then close the case gently so the brim stays smooth.
Round crown packable hats: Turn the brim down, fold the hat in half, then roll it into a cone for compact packing.
Pinched crown packable safari, fedora & cowboy hats: Fold “like a taco”—turn the brim up against the crown, then flatten carefully to preserve the crown shape.
For extra protection in a suitcase, place a T-shirt or soft clothing inside the crown to help prevent creasing and maintain the hat’s shape. If the hat includes a chin strap, you can use it to help secure the hat in place while packing. Some soft fabric styles can even be crushed into a ball for the easiest grab-and-go convenience.
Whether you’re traveling with a suitcase or just living a busy life, packable hats are made to be tossed in your bag—so you’re always ready for sun, wind, rain, and outdoor days.
